Kenya and China To Explore Mutual Growth Opportunities in Infrastructure
Kenya's President, William Ruto has extended an invitation to Chinese investors to leverage Kenya's favorable business environment for forging collaborative partnerships, particularly in crucial sectors such as infrastructure, information and communication technology (ICT), agriculture, and energy.
This was stated during a meeting with Mr. Li Xi, a member of China's Communist Party Political Bureau in Beijing, President Ruto emphasized the significant potential for cooperation between Kenya and China.
He stated that Kenya presents a wide range of opportunities, especially in sectors like infrastructure, ICT, agriculture, and energy. In addition, he also encouraged Chinese investors to explore these sectors for investment and partnership.
In response, Mr. Li Xi pledged China's support for its companies operating in Kenya. According to him, China is eager to participate in various projects, with a keen interest in road construction, the expansion of the Standard Gauge Railway, modernization of Kenya's airports, and advancements in the ICT sector.
"China and Kenya share a common vision of alleviating poverty through bottom-up socioeconomic transformation, and we have identified areas where we can support each other to realize this shared goal," Mr. Xi stated.
