Just In : Morocco To Host 2025 AFCON
Morocco is set to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON). This was announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Morocco is replacing Guinea which was stripped of the rights to host the tournament due to concerns about infrastructures and facilities.
Both Nigeria-Benin and Zambia were also interested in it but they decided to withdraw to allow Morocco prove its worth.
Morocco won by default after Algeria backed down on Tuesday, 26th September, Zambia and a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin all stepped down.
This is the second time Morocco will be hosting Africa's biggest sporting event since 1988.
Kenya-Uganda-Tanzania will host the 2027 tournament. Patience Motsepe, president of Organizer CAF said, "The three nations came together because our standards and requirements are very high,"
Morocco is also bidding for the 2030 world cup with Spain and Portugal. All decision are directed towards making Africa proud.
