Nigeria's President to Attend G20 Compact With Africa Conference
On Saturday, November 20, President Bola Tinubu will travel from Abuja to Berlin, Germany, to attend the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Conference. The conference, hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, will bring together President Tinubu, along with other leaders from CwA member countries, bilateral partners, and Heads of International Organizations.
The purpose of the conference is to discuss ways to strengthen economic and business cooperation, with a focus on increasing investments in key sectors like energy, trade, infrastructure, and new technologies.
According to a statement from Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, the G20 CwA Conference will be held simultaneously with the Fourth G20 Investment Summit, which is co-hosted by the German government and German business associations.
Ngelale mentioned that due to President Bola Tinubu's well-known efforts to attract foreign direct investment to Nigeria, he will continue to build on this momentum and further advance the mission as he leads Nigeria's delegation at the investment summit.
Ngelale also emphasized that this visit demonstrates President Tinubu's commitment to diplomatic reciprocity, as it is a response to the invitation extended by the German Chancellor following her visit to Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria, from October 29 to October 30, 2023.
Joining the President on the trip will be Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Wale Edun, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance; Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment; and Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power.
The Nigerian delegation will follow up on fruitful meetings that were previously held with influential representatives from German business organizations who were part of the German Chancellor's official delegation to Nigeria.
