Liberian citizens on Tuesday, November 14 have started casting their votes to determine if they want to give another term to George Weah, a former soccer player, despite facing criticism, or choose Joseph Boakai, an experienced candidate, despite his age.

In the initial round on October 10th, Mr. Weah and Mr. Boakai had a close competition, with Mr. Weah securing 43.83% of the votes and leading by a margin of 7,126 votes as the incumbent.

This upcoming presidential election, which is the second round, is expected to be a tight race between the two candidates who previously competed against each other in 2017.

Over 2.4 million voters have the opportunity to vote between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm (GMT). The voters will choose between an incumbent leader who is favored by young people but has faced criticism, and a former vice-president who served from 2006 to 2018 under Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

The electoral commission is expected to release the results within 15 days, but it may happen sooner, according to Samuel Cole, an official from the commission.
