Recently the Kenyan cabinet underwent some reshuffle and saw prominent figures transferred to different ministries, including Moses Kuria's move from Trade to Public Service and Alfred Mutua's transition to the Tourism docket from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Other notable changes included Rebecca Miano taking over the Trade docket, Peninah Malonza assuming the Tourism and Wildlife portfolio, Alice Wahome's reassignment to Lands, and Zachariah Njeru's appointment to the Maji House.

Silvanus Osoro, Kenyan National Assembly Majority Whip, provided insights into the recent cabinet reshuffle orchestrated by President William Ruto, highlighting that the changes were made based on the Cabinet Secretaries' capacity to handle their portfolios effectively.

According to Kenyan News, the South Mugirango emphasized that the reshuffle did not reflect the competence of the Cabinet Secretaries but rather aimed to align each CS with dockets where they could maximize their abilities, ultimately facilitating the government's fulfillment of its mandate and electoral promises.

Osoro used a football analogy to illustrate the point, comparing the reshuffle to a coach adjusting players' positions on the pitch for optimal performance. “It is like halftime; sometimes you can place a player at a number six position on the pitch and later change them because they are unable to perform.”

The Majority Whip stressed that some CSs received increased responsibilities, while others had their workloads adjusted. He noted that President Ruto's comments during the signing of performance contracts indicated that the reshuffle was not about incompetence but rather about capacity.

Addressing speculations of discord within the ruling party, Osoro affirmed that the president has the authority to make changes within his administration as he sees fit.

He also hinted at the possibility of further reshuffles by the end of the year, emphasizing President Ruto's commitment to service delivery and his intention to appoint the most competent individuals for specific dockets.
